The World’s End (2013)
Starring: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, Rosamund Pike
Directed by: Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead; Hot Fuzz; Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World)
Synopsis: Five childhood friends try to finish an epic pub crawl 20 years after their last attempt and run into conflicted feelings and KILLER ROBOTS!!!
Best part(s): (really not that many clips of this movie)
Worst part: The robots’ heads are hollow and we can’t figure out how that works.
Best line: Gary King: “What the fuck does WTF mean?”
Nudity: Paddy Considine’s ass when he shows the scar he got from a broken bottle.
Overall: This movie is the third and final part of the Cornetto Trilogy, which is just a trilogy because it involves the same director and two lead actors and there’s a shot of ice cream in each one. Following the absolutely excellent Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, I was really looking forward to The World’s End, thinking this crew could do no wrong. Yes, it is good. It’s funny and has a great story and surprisingly good action. BUT, I just don’t think it stacked up to the other two films. Granted, the other two were more spoofs than this one is. I just don’t see myself watching and enjoying this one over and over like I do with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. I think I definitely need to see it again to see if it works for me the second time around. I’m pretty sure I felt the same way about Hot Fuzz after I first saw it. You should definitely check it out, it’s still one of the better movies I saw this summer, definitely better than Man of Steel and Pacific Rim. I just feel a little let down that I didn’t love it. But hey, have some beers with your “mates” (that’s British for “bros”) and see it. Just remember: everyone you know may be a robot, so smash them in the face to make sure.
Score: 7.75 pints (out of 10)

So I should smash everyone’s face in, even if it means R.O.T.O.R. may be undercover?

Not in this one because Pirates of the Caribbean takes place in a dystopian future.

Yeah you certainly won’t regret seeing it, just don’t expect it to be quite as excellent as the other two.

Mostly agree except I did like it better than Hot Fuzz. I should give that one another chance…

Good review Brian. A bunch of fun at the movies, probably made even better if you go in a little tipsy too. But that’s just my guess.

Unfortunately we only had time for one 22-oz beer before we saw this. I’ll remedy that on home video.
