The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)
The Scenes: The best in the business!
Why We Love These Scenes: To celebrate the Supreme Court’s landmark marriage equality ruling (it only took us a couple centuries to realize that homosexuals are human beings, because the Constitution is supposed to be for, you know, everyone, not just straight caucasian males), here are some fabulous song and dance numbers from the fantastic The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. If you’ve never seen this movie for whatever reason (maybe you’re put off by “those types,” a.k.a., Australians) do yourself a favor and rectify that. It’s a great, hilarious, touching road trip movie with more flair than Hope & Crosby could ever muster, plus a perfect cast with Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce, and Terence Stamp. Also: ping pong balls.
Oh, and, although this was an American court ruling and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar may have made more sense to feature here as an American production, Priscilla is a much better movie, and To Wong Foo is lacking in the drag musical department.
This is awesome! Next up: Banning guns! Hopefully that won’t take centuries as well.
Anyway, I’ve never seen this movie! But I saw To Wong Foo as John Leguizamo is one of my “weird crushes”.

Absolutely love this film! Such a classic. I’ll never forget watching this as a kid and being so confused by the ping pong balls scene. Good times.

Yay! This movie made its way around my work and I ended up having to explain so much to so many square coworkers.
