True or False Trivia: The Sixth Sense

One of the fascinating pieces of trivia below is true*, the other is false. Do YOU know which is which?

The Sixth Sense (1999)

1) According to M. Night Shyamalan, the movie was inspired by an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? called The Tale of the Dream Girl directed by David Winning in which leading characters are ignored by somebody and don’t realize that they are dead until the final moment. In The Tale of the Dream Girl, a brother discovers that only his sister can see him and she ultimately shows him his own obituary.

2) It was widely believed on the set that the hairpiece that Bruce Willis wears in the movie (made of real human hair taken from the shower drains of a lunatic asylum) was itself haunted, as one night it slid off of Willis’s head, made its way across town and tried to strangle Haley Joel Osment in his sleep. Osment was so shaken up by the incident that he quit the movie halfway through filming. Lacking the funds to reshoot, director M. Night Shyamalan replaced Osment with a department store mannequin and had Bruce Willis, a grandmaster ventriloquist, dub all of Osment’s lines as they were being filmed. The switch was so effective that only the most eagle-eyed Haley Joel Osment fans ever noticed.
