In the greatest science fiction film ever made, Back to the Future, young Marty McFly time travels from 1985 to 1955, meeting a 30-years younger Doc Brown, inventor of said time machine. But before Marty’s temporal journey, Doc demonstrates his DeLorean-based time machine with the aid of his beloved dog, Einstein. When Marty travels back to 1955, the younger Doc also has a dog, named Copernicus, who had a similar color and wiry coat to Einstein, but was much smaller. Not knowing a ton about the canine species in my own younger days, I always assumed that Copernicus and Einstein were the same dog, and that Copernicus had simply grown bigger over the course of 30 years and Doc changed his name to Einstein… for some reason. It wasn’t until later that I learned that dogs don’t generally live to be 40+ years old.

That is definitely a dumb kid moment.

Awww, but he’s so cute! Dogs really should be able to live 40+ years. Now that we’ve got DeLorean based time travel, someone should get the dog life extension project.

Maybe that’s what Doc originally set out to do.

HA! Precious. Brian, I very much wanted to do something for this series, but I’m still drawing a blank on dumb movie moments…which is surprising because I’m quite positive I’ve had my fair share. Haha.
