Premium Rush (2012)
Synopsis: An adrenline-soaked action comedy about the unlucky day of an atypical heroic NYC bike messenger.
Best part(s): Any of the the bike chases especially the car vs. bike chase scenes.
Best line(s): “What is it with this envelope? People love it, they hate it, they gotta have it, they gotta get rid of it. It’s like cigarettes or Democrats.”
Nudity: Nope.
Overall: I know, I know another Joseph Gordon-Levitt film this year. The lad’s in like 11 movies in the past year but trust me, Premium Rush is worth your time. Speaking of time, the running time of Premium Rush is an easy 90 minutes of nothing but fast-paced chases. There’s very little down time and most of the chit-chat is done over blue-tooth while the chases are happening which is great. I said earlier that the plot is weak and a tad odd but once Wilee (Gordon-Levitt) knows of the nefarious act of Shannon’s loose-cannon cop there’s very little care for the actual plot since it has basically nothing to do with Wilee in the first place. One of my favorite aspects of the film, (besides the chases and bike choreography and stunts) is whenever Wilee is riding fast he turns on his sixth sense or “spidey-sense” if you will whenever he foresee’s danger. We see, through his eyes, 2 or 3 possible routes or maneuvers he could make and the outcome of each one, sometimes with deadly or hilarious (or both) results. For a recent release that pretty much failed at the box office this past summer, its very much worth a look-see.
Score: 8 Ran Red Lights (out of 10)

“It’s like cigarettes or Democrats” – I am a smoker and I hate – what. Well. It’s getting late and time for watching TV that I like. And supper.

This was the biggest disappointment for me last year. I was looking forward to it but in the end it seemed like a big waste of talent.

I thought this was a concert movie.

great write up. Yeah…this one was pretty cheesy come the end of it because the plot all the way through was really weak. like you pointed out: it’s good for the bike sequences, but that’s about as complimentary as the Sony Playstation 3 being purchased solely for its blu-ray capabilities.

Will I still enjoy this if, I am not a fan of folks wearing spandex body suits emblazoned with sponsor names, who refer to what they do as cycling?

JGL doesn’t often star in a bad movie. This is one of those times. Surprised they didn’t make a courier video game. Oh ya they did 30yrs ago; its called Paperboy.

I was really surprised at how much I liked this movie. I agree that the plot is weak but it is still fun watching Levit and Shannon go toe to toe out on the streets. This is a fun movie to not think about too much and just enjoy
