Coffee Town (2013)

Coffee Town

Starring: Glenn Howerton, Steve Little, Ben Schwartz, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Groban, Josh Perry

Directed by: Brad Copeland (Coffee Town only)

Synopsis:  A lovable misfit uses a coffee shop as his office, but when it’s in danger of turning into a bar he enlists the aid of his lovable misfits friends to foil the company’s plans.

Best part: Any movie that pays tribute to the BMX dance scene in Rad is aces in my book.

Worst part: The whole break-in of Coffee Town seemed a bit unnecessary when they could have accomplished what they were setting out to do by just throwing bricks through the windows and spraying graffiti on the building.

Best line:

Chad: “You wanna be straight, shove it up another guy’s ass. That’s straight.

Nudity: Josh Groban’s balls.

Overall: Nice little comedy with this the first attempt at making a movie from the people at College Humor. It basically plays kind of like an extended episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, a comparison that can’t be helped because of Dennis Reynolds being the lead, but that’s a good thing. It’s sharply written, with consistently funny scenes, likeable characters, Adrianne Palicki in workout clothes, coffee, Newport menthols, crime, a gunshot wound, BMX, chocolate milk and Josh Perry, an actor with Down Syndrome who steals the show, like all actors with Down Syndrome do because they are awesome. If you’re a fan of Always Sunny (and if not, why not?) check it out.

Score: 7.5 laptop lap burns (out of 10)

  1. I have never even heard of this movie, but now I’m interested. I love It’s Always Sunny. Just the other day I was laughing so hard at the Thunder Gun Express episode that I woke D up.

  2. I’ve often wondered if I should watch it’s Always Sunny… But have been scared that it’s funny in an American way, which means, not very funny. Such as shows like how I Met Your Mother. Just not funny! Us Brits are hard to please when it comes to comedy!

  3. Very interesting. I’m a pretty decent fan of Sunny so I think I’ll be adding it to my list. That BMX throwback scene I think pretty much sold me too.
