Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil (2011)
Trailer:
*Spoilers Throughout*
What’s It About: A group of college kids, known as flatlanders, go camp in god’s country and run across Tucker and Dale, who they think may be redneck killers, but they’re just rednecks who just bought a vacation home, which is the proverbial cabin in the woods, complete with murderous history and death traps!
Here are some of my observations as I watched the film:
- Yes, Katrina Bowden, go, go skinny dipping, yes… dang.
- People start dying, by gruesome accident, but it makes Tucker and Dale seem like maniacs.
- Chad is an ideal asshole.
- I could have sworn that the guy who plays Dale is the guy in The Dark Knight who has an exploding cell phone in his tummy, but apparently he’s not. Good for him.
- “I knew that if a guy like me talked to a girl like you someone would end up dead.”
- I like how Tucker pours beer on his wounds. Does that work? I’m gonna try that.
- So Katrina Bowden is tied up and… and… I lost my train of thought…
Is It Actually Scary: No, unless you’re scared of your own laughter! Which would be really weird. That’s called Geliophobia, and there is help.
How Much Gore: Pretty much the premise of the movie is people dying in super-gory yet funny ways.
Best Scene: Bees!!
and Dale’s attempt at making friends:
Worst Scene: When Tucker and Dale interrupt Katrina Bowden from skinny dipping. Just needlessly cruel.
Any Nudity: *sigh* No.
Overall: HIDDEN GEM! A lot of you may not have even heard of this movie but it’s really entertaining. Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil is all about hilarious misunderstandings that tickle the ribs while slyly spoofing slasher movies. I’d say it’s on par with and just as good as The Cabin in the Woods. It’s the same type of sly humor that delivers a spoof that’s not dumbed down in any way, which is completely refreshing these days. The only real nitpick I have with it is the tone of the ending sequence doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the picture, but it’s not that big of a deal. Genuinely funny, great gore, awesome kills and Katrina Bowden. What’s not to like? See it now before you have a tragic yet hilarious accident!
Score: 8 Bowdens of Katrina (out of 10)

Ahhh, Canadian Thanksgiving today. Giving me to opportunity to catch up on these posts at my personal computer instead of squandering company time on my work one for a change, lol.
It would have been awesome if Death Bed got to cameo as one of the death traps in the cabin.

I checked this out at the library on the recommendation of a co-worker and promptly ended up watching like episodes of the A-team instead. Maybe one day I’ll get around to watching it.
