1) When Forrest gets up to talk at the Vietnam rally in Washington, the microphone plug is pulled and you cannot hear him. According to Tom Hanks, he says, “Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that.” 

2) In numerous interviews to publicize the movie when it came out, Tom Hanks repeatedly said that he based the character of Forrest Gump on his brother, Jim Hanks, even though Jim was of normal intelligence. Tom would even go so far as to say that he had to tone down his brother’s “drooling idiocy” to play Forrest convincingly. The verbal attacks became more vicious with each interview, the most famous incident being when Tom defecated into his own hand and showed it to the camera, explaining that his brother was born the same way. This upset Jim so much that he actually spoke up with a barely audible, “Hey…” This infuriated Tom, who had been using Jim as a chair and had ordered him not to talk, move or breathe during the interview. After beating Jim to within an inch of his life with a microphone, Tom stuffed the putrid feces up Jim’s nose, screaming over and over, “LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES, MOTHERF***ER!!” Jim ended up making a full recovery, but while he was in the hospital, Tom had his house bulldozed to the ground. The entire situation is rumored to have stemmed from a time weeks prior when Jim missed a small spot while waxing Tom’s Hummer. Forrest Gump went on to be a huge success and Hanks won a Golden Globe for his performance, thereby fully justifying his actions.
