The Crow (1994)
Starring: Brandon Lee, Michael Wincott, Ernie Hudson, crow
Directed by: Alex Proyas
Synopsis: A man and his fiancee are murdered by thugs and he comes back from the dead to take revenge, crow-style.
Best part(s): I always liked Eric’s revenge on Fun Boy, mostly because the Jesus joke is great:
Worst part(s): Bai Ling’s character is pretty annoying, especially when she’s not nude.
Best line(s): Albrecht: Don’t move, Snow White.
Nudity: Bai Ling is naked a bit, which is nice.
Overall: I loved everything about this movie when I was a teenager and watched it several times. The soundtrack was great and it was gritty before gritty became popular. And it holds up excellently. While it’s a little moody for my non-teen self it’s done very well and can be enjoyed just as much now as it was then, even though it has a very “’90s” feel about it. The characters are all entertaining and Michael Wincott is a great villain. The dialogue is good but some of it seems a little too goth in a hokey way to me now. Brandon Lee definitely makes the movie and gives a great performance. Because of that, it’s sad to watch this movie and think about what could have been for him. Like his father, the way he died wasn’t a curse, it was just stupid and careless. And I think that crow had something to do with it…
Score: 7.5 moody crows (out of 10)

I loved this film so much when I was 16. I thought it was the most romantic thing I had ever seen. I still own a copy now. It has such a great soundtrack.

Yeah that may be my favorite Cure song ever, and I had the STP song on a loop back then.

I thought the love story between Eric and the crow was a little far-fetched.

I once made love to Bai Ling at a truck stop in Kentucky.
At least that’s what the trucker said when I gave him my money (in advance).

The whole Bai Ling transvestite truck stop prostitution fad died out too quickly.

Saw this at the theater but I was too high to remember what happened. Thanks for the recap.

Loved this film, it had many different aspects to it. This is my kind of vigilante super-hero, real motivations, imperfect, not really knowing why he is what he is, and of course, a dark – almost horror element to him.

Always loved this movie. And so did my grandma. Which was odd? But cool. 🙂

Saw it once, it was okay. Kind of like a 90’s MTV version of a superhero.

This is a really great movie! But I agree that visually it hasn’t aged that well, it’s so very distinctly 90’s. And not necessarily in a bad way. But it is too sad to watch sometimes, thinking about what might have been…

After taking a look at a few upcoming colorways, Don C now gives us a first on foot look at his newest Air Jordan collab. This iteration sports a clean White leather upper with elephant print overlays, a midfoot strap with Red contrasting accents. Just Don tongues tags gives the shoe a nice signature touch for the Chicago native.
