A Deeper Look: Life of Pi and Cloud Atlas

Pi-Atlas

As a scholar, I consistently watch films that delve into the complexities of human nature, particularly in the areas of morality, spirituality, existentialism, mortality, etc. If the film does not spark a serious internal discussion about your own life and the mysteries of the universe, then I am just not interested. With that in mind, there were two films in 2012 that put me on that inner soul search above all others: Life of Pi and Cloud Atlas. I will be discussing the themes of both here in exhaustive detail that will turn over every stone of thought in these two, frankly, pieces of art. So let us embark on this intense journey together…

  2. Ha! Love this! Screw Life Of Pi anyway – the book was much better. I’ve not seen Cloud Atlas. I did, however, read that book as well and didn’t know WTF was going on. I don’t need the movie to remind me that I’m stupid. 🙂
