1) Since Thora Birch was barely 17 at the time she made the film, and thus classified as a minor in the United States, her parents had to approve her brief topless scene in the movie and they and child labor representatives were on the set for the shooting of it.
2) The infamous Kevin Spacey masturbating-in-the-shower scene took over 30 takes before a stuntman was brought in to accurately portray a man jerking off in the shower on film. Spacey later admitted that he’d never masturbated before and “simply did not know how to do it.” Also the only reason this scene was put in was pressure from the studio since American Pie was highly successful earlier in the year and the executives at DreamWorks thought the masturbation scenes were key to its success with the teen demographic.
