The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977)
Why I Love This Scene: As hard as it is to believe in light of recent releases such as Movie 43 and anything by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, there was once a time when spoof movies were funny, and the guys mainly responsible were called Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker. They would go on to make such classics as Airplane!, Top Secret! and Police Squad! and its subsequent films, but The Kentucky Fried Movie is where it all started, teaming up with the legendary John Landis for a spoof sketch film that’s actually more funny than not. The crown jewel in the movie is the half-hour long A Fistful of Yen sketch. A parody of Enter the Dragon, it perfectly nails nearly every joke. But the funniest part of it is no doubt the “lost drunken men” scene, a direct spoof of a scene in Enter the Dragon where the villain shows Bruce Lee the men he’s kidnapped, for some reason. Every line of this spoof scene is endlessly quotable, and every time someone asks you what you want to drink, you can say, “I don’t care.” and laugh maniacally for hours.
