1) In the stories, Holmes is described to be an expert in Baritsu. In the film, however, the martial art that Holmes used is the Wing-Chun Kung Fu (famously used by Ip Man Yee and Bruce Lee). Robert Downey Jr. is a practitioner of the art in real life and the fight scene between him and David Garrick at Punchbowl Pit was coordinated with the help of his trainer. 

2) Jude Law signed up for this movie mistakenly believing that he was going to play John Holmes, the legendary porn star. Knowing he wasn’t endowed enough and not wanting to wear a rubber prosthetic like Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights, Law tied a 20-pound dumbbell to the end of his penis with fishing line and walked around his house nude for 3 months. The method succeeded in giving law an extra 7 inches, but he soon realized that he couldn’t achieve even the slightest hint of an erection. To correct this, Law injected liquid Cialis into his shaft and inserted four metal rods into his urethra. When he finally got to the set and realized he was to play John Watson, Law demanded to film all of his scenes in the nude, with Sherlock Holmes making constant puns about the size of his member. After studio intervention, clothes and a cane were digitally added to all of Law’s scenes in post-production, but the puns were kept intact, confusing the audience.
