One of the fascinating pieces of trivia below is true*, the other is false. Do YOU know which is which?
Blade Runner (1982)
1) Although for many years, Harrison Ford refused to talk about the film, he did contribute to the 2007 DVD documentary Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner, claiming he has reconciled with Ridley Scott and made his peace with the film. In fact, Ford says the thing he remembers most is not the grueling shoot or the arguments with his director, but being forced to record the voiceover which executive producers Jerry Perenchio and Bud Yorkin insisted be in the film. Ford doesn’t actually mention any names, but in discussing the voiceover which was used in the theatrical cut, he says it was written by “clowns”. In actual fact, Darryl Ponicsan was initially hired to write it, but his version was tossed out. Then Roland Kibbee was hired and his version is the one that was used. According to David Peoples and Hampton Fancher, who had become close friends, when they first saw the film, they each thought the other had written it, and despite the fact that they both hated it, they told one another they loved it for fear of insulting the other’s feelings.
2) The movie was originally cast with Rutger Hauer as Deckard and Harrison Ford as the replicant Roy Batty (after he impressed director Ridley Scott with his ability to remain emotionless at all times). However, a few weeks before filming started Ford decided that he would rather play the part of Deckard, but was unable to convince Hauer to switch roles. So Ford devised a plan to poison each of Hauer’s meals with mercury until Hauer went mad enough to believe that he actually was an android. The roles were swapped, and the rest is history, although Hauer was rendered legally blind from then on.

Is it actually a comedy? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it.

It wasn’t supposed to be a comedy, but my husband and I laughed a lot while watching it. It’s a super cheesy action movie.

When I was in college in the 90’s it seemed like the local channel showed Blind Fury once every month and I watched it every time. So I’ve probably seen Blind Fury about 5 times more than I’ve seen Blade Runner.
